Our team of highly trained professionals are able to ensure that test instruments are performing correctly and conform to all manufacturer standards.  Our technicians are able to perform your calibration in our own in-house ISO9001 calibration lab or alternatively we can come directly to your premises and provide calibration on-site.

Electrical test equipment comes in various different forms, and our calibration experts are able to ensure that everything from the latest PAT testers to multifunction testers are working exactly how they should be. Whatever your electrical test instrument is, we’re confident we can calibrate and repair it for you all for a great price.

We are also able to repair test equipment. Sometimes the team may also find errors when performing calibration, allowing them to inform you about potential problems with your tester. Once you give us the go ahead, we can then repair these faults, calibrate your device and ensure your electrical test equipment is safe for use and gives correct readings for another year.

Digital and Analogue Multimeters

We are able to calibrate instruments from Megger, Fluke, Kewtech, Robin, Martindale, Metrel, Extech, Alphatek and more.

We test every available range on your digital multimeter by using our highly accurate calibration standards. All calibration services are performed in accordance with manufacturer standards.

When we perform our multimeter calibration we begin by testing the various  functions that your device is capable of testing. In order to do this we begin with the lowest possible value your tester is capable of reading before gradually stepping up the values to the manufacturer’s recommended maximum.

We also perform basic function checks such as:

  • Does every section of your display light up?
  • Does your continuity buzzer work?
  • Do dials rotate freely?

We also perform a range of mechanical and general operational checks of your multimeter to look for faults that may affect its operation. If there are any faults found we will let you know directly and will be able to provide repair services for an additional charge.

Single Function 17th Edition Testers

We are able to calibrate all single-function electrical testers from most major manufacturers.

The three main types of single function 17th edition testers are loop testers, insulation/continuity and RCD testers.

To test a loop tester, we apply a range of values between the minimum capability of your device and the maximum possible value according to manufacturers standards. If working correctly, your tester should be able to comfortably test all readings. We also perform general operational checks, as well as ensuring that voltage and resistances of the device are correct.

For RCD testers, we perform a general operational test, and we also:

  • Make sure the device is carrying a current according to the manufacturer’s standards.
  • Check each current output range, checking trip time and trip current.

For insulation and continuity testers, we make sure that the output voltage for every insulation range conforms to manufactuer specification. We also test the full range of the device, starting with the minimum value and working up in steps towards the maximum. When testing continuity, we test every range and also make sure that the unit is zeroing correctly by testing the zero function (if it has one).

Clamp Meters

Clamp meters are tested in a similar fashion to multimeters, where the values of the tester are put through steps between the minimum and maximum to ensure it performs correctly according to the manufacturer’s specification.

Our calibration standard has an optional extra which allows us to output current to a clamp adaptor, which allows us to calibrate all varieties of clamp meters across a wide range of currents.

We can calibrate clamp meters from various different manufacturers including Fluke, Iso-tech, Megger, UNI-T, TPI and more.

Decade Box/Time Resistance Boxes

To calibrate these devices where permittable we use a four wire resistance measurement. This allows us to eliminate the resistance and ensure calibration is completed as accurately as possible.

Calibrations are performed using our high accuracy multimeter. Testing is performed by testing every range of every decade in your tester to ensure a fully thorough calibration.

Process Meters

These are calibrated in a very similar fashion to conventional multimeters. We test the full range of values of the multimeter by stepping them from the mimumum to the max. General operational and mechanical checks are also performed.

Since process multimeters also output, we use a high accuracy multimeter to test the different output functions of the process meter. Depending on the device it may have different outputs, and we are able to calibrate all of these.

mA/Loop Calibrators

To test these devices we make sure these devices are outputting 4-20 millamps and is also able to test 4-20 milliamps. The calibration process is completed using our high accuracy multimeter.

We switch between the source and measure functions of the device, test it using a known value and make sure that it accurately measures this measurement.

PAT Testers

We test the output current of all possible earth bond ranges (if permittable). We also check the earth bond resistance of your PAT tester, the insulation resistance of the device, earth leakage and – where perimattable – flash.

We are also able to test loads and all leads supplied with a PAT tester. We also perform an IEC lead and polarity test.

PAT Calibration Checkboxes

We test every possible range that the PAT calibration checkbox outputs.

Bench Top Multimeters

To calibrate these devices we test each range significantly more than conventional devices. As bench top multimeters are generally much more accurate than conventional multimeters, the more extensive testing process ensures we calibrate the unit as accurately as possible.

5kv Insulation Testers

The calibration procedure for these devices is directly similar to that of a standard 17th edition insulation tester. However, there are a few extra parameters we have to consider.

First of all the higher voltage tests must be performed to ensure that your meter is outputting the correctly stated voltage.  Secondly due to the instrument outputting a higher voltage this means that the unit can also read much higher resistances; it is this extra resistance that we also check on a 5kv insulation tester.

Milliohm Meters

These devices tend to read very small resistances. To accurately test these meters, we utilise a milliohm test standard.  Using this standard and the four-wire resistance measurement technique we can accurately test your milliohm meter and ensure that it conforms to manufacturer specifications.

Ground/Earth Testers

These devices are extremely similar to a milliohm meter, however they are capable of testing higher resistances as well. We test these units in much the same way as a milliohm meter however we incorporate some higher resistance tests within the calibration procedure.

Multifunction 17th Edition Testers

The test procedure for these devices incorporates the test sequence of all three single-function 17th edition testers.  This ensures that your insulation/continuity, loop and RCD ranges are working as expected and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Calibration Checkboxes

When testing a calibration checkbox we like to make sure that we accurately and thoroughly test every possible output from the checkbox. If permittable, we also check that the checkbox is correctly measuring the output voltage from a multifunction tester.
